Silas Siege
Silas Siege grew up on Detroit's Eastside, where his grandfather worked the plant line until the line gave up and the plant gate whistle used to run the neighborhood's mornings. His first lesson, learned at that gate, was that a man is a wall or a door for the world; he chose wall, block thick, with a memory like iron. He did ten years quiet in the city's hardest rooms and came out the whole perimeter himself: the fence and the cable, the checkpoint and the permit. What sounds like hardness in his records is custody: he guards what he loves like a watchman, and the watch does not end.
