Marcus Vandrell

Marcus Vandrell grew up in Gary, Indiana, in a house where the bus pass money ran out before the month did, so from age eleven he ran everywhere: a paper route on foot before school, delivery slips rubber-banded in his fist, shoes held together with tape from the kitchen drawer. The route supervisor clocked him once and said the kid ran a mile a minute. He never stopped: warehouse nights, dock work, doubles on the clock. Every job since has been the route with bigger miles, and the microphone is the latest version of the same run.
